Being a "bean-counter" and general manager at the same time, I ventured out with my used car manager and attended several auctions. Owning "very nice" cars subtantially higher than my LOCAL market demand, certainly prompted a review of our buying/selling philosophy. What happened last year, last month, last week is in the past. What do I do NOW? what can I sell NOW? I was laughed at for purchasing two off brand vehicles. This "bean counter" hit two doubles in the same inning-that's a run. (not a home run but still a run)My point is don't buy for the sake of buying. Buy what you can sell. Remember: a little every day adds up !!

I couldnt even imagine a world not going to buy cars at auction for the store to sell. You just changed my point of view of this whole HERD mentality running wild. I would think that by now, a strong owner would step in and say something to an inexperienced buyer. Now, chains like CARMAX bidding up cars in the lane is nothing new. I see the dealers in my lanes are the usual suspects for the most part.

My PVR is lower on used, but as I have said before, I am still open for business and I need to have the right cars on my lot. Like anything else, things will change. My advice is to keep your eye out for deals and buy smart.
