Since I’ve made this post, I’ve heard from a number of people like the following anonymous comment, that this manager is actually not a bad guy. As awful as this meeting was, I’m somewhat sympathetic because I too have made some mistakes and done some awful things. It truly is a shame that the poor judgment exercised by this individual on that particular day can be a career defining mistake. Based on favorable comments about this gentleman from many whom I respect, I personally am willing to forgive and forget.

I felt compelled to make a quick comment on the hostile Manager video post. I have seen this video before. I know that manager very well. He was my mentor the first day I ever sold a car. You may be surprised to know that he taught me to be honest and have integrity when selling and he made sure I did. He is a friend of mine. He screwed up BIG TIME and believe me he knows it. The unfortunate part is that he is a very passionate guy and he let himself get out of control. He acted improperly but he is not a thief, liar, or slacker. He has two great boys and I love his wife. He is a true family guy. Though I don’t condone nor agree with his actions I hate the fact he has no chance at redemption due to how viral this video went. Some people make huge mistakes. He is not a bad guy. I was as shocked as anyone after seeing the video. He is still working in the car business and after the lessons he has learned I would take him on my team.

I do not miss these days of the 'car business'! While it is laughable, we have all either done, seen, or lived through meetings like this!

John (Ct.): Sad thing is...this happens in many dealerships. I was in the auto industry for over 15 years and many of which in a management capacity. I've seen many so called managers come and go. Too many managers allow the pressure of the position to negatively effect their staff. Everything that this manager blamed his sales staff for were due to his inability to properly train, motivate and guide his salespeople. Their results are a reflection of him. Disturbing video to say the least.

Dale, as a Manager in a California dealership, this video has been shown around for the last couple of weeks. It is a display of 'no leadership' from the top on down. It's a true display of negative leadership. As I watched this, you can feel the energy get sucked out of the room. I hope like hell that this, now unemployed, Manager has learned a great lesson - treat others with dignity and they will work hard for you; abuse them and you have no one to blame but yourself.
