Review: A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose

This book was life changing for me. Eckhart Tolle states correctly in the first few pages that many who read this book will find it life changing and to many others it will make no sense at all.

Tolle unravels the mystery of the human condition and mind to reveal the true essence of happiness and being. I believe that he has completely nailed the issue and has left me yearning to read everything that he writes. It’s very difficult to say who this book would appeal to, but I’ve sent it to several of my friends on a hunch that it might hit the mark. I personally can’t recommend it to everyone, but to others, it would be my #1 recommended choice.

I’ll soon be reading In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin by Erik Larson. Among other notables, Larson wrote Devil in the White City

Review: The Greater Journey, Americans in Paris

This is another historical masterpiece by David McCullough, my favorite American historian. The Greater Journey profiles the experiences of early Americans in Paris during the 1800’s. At that time, Paris was the epicenter of culture in the civilized world. Hundreds of Americans who traveled to Paris returned to America and became the preeminent leaders in their chosen fields. These include music, art, medicine, politics, education and so many more. The experiences of these great Americans are told against the back drop of a tumultuous political revolutionary time in France. One can easily come to understand how France and Parisian cultures shape the modern world and American experience. This is a must read for those who love McCullough and/or American cultural history. This is a definite don’t read for those seek suspenseful thrillers. I give it an A+

Karonel,

I have not. You'll find my past and present reading on this blog under the heading Dale's Book Choices. Let me know what you think of the book once you're finished.

Thanks,

Dale
